Importance Of Retaining Patience In Parenting
Being the mom of 3-year-old kid, I understand and experience the fact that screaming at your child is rarely helpful. As a working mom, I take care of multiple duties, and due to tiredness, lose patience often. I admit that at times parents would find it difficult to retain patience with their child, and would soon start yelling at their kids when they’re naughty. This actually can induce rebellious behavior, which would soon show as a tendency to misbehave. When shouting or screaming occurs from both sides, it affects the entire household, and creates tension and stress. A lot of the time, once you’ve started yelling, you’d stop seeing things from their POV.
Parenting is not an easy task, and as your kid grows, you would have more and more responsibilities to handle. If you are handling your kid in the right way, despite of the fact that your kid is naughty, you can somehow make him/her obey your instructions.
Follow scream free parenting
I used to scream at my child and lose patience quickly. And then one day I happened to read about scream free parenting, and soon decided to try it. I was convinced of the fact that yelling or berating would not improve or mold my child in a better way. Oftentimes all this would accomplish was that your child would develop a tendency to disagree with or disapprove of your instructions. I decided to talk most calmly and lovingly to my child, and after a few days, I found that he has stopped shouting and crying for simple things. Instead, he has started talking to me in the same way as I do to him. This shows that your child is noticing and mimicking your behavior, and hence the parents have an important role in giving them proper examples to follow.
Shouting at your child will induce development of cortisol in his brain, something that can increase the blood pressure level, nullify the immune system, and cause memory loss and create other learning disabilities. When parents act harshly towards their kids, it affects their overall character, which sometimes wouldn’t show until the damage has become irreparable. This scenario if continued, can lead to teenage delinquency.
Children love to get attention and care from their folks. If parents try to spend some time for their kids, they would soon start caring and loving them in return. Handling your kid with patience will definitely help your child to turn into a loving kid, and you to be the best parent around.
